Fleeting

Fleeting. 🌄

These moments, these days, these breaths. 🌅   📆   🌬

I’m in bed with so much on my mind and my heart. 💓  I have not been functioning well this week with Hurricane Irma on my mind. 🙇🏻‍♀️ Not knowing how exactly it’s going to affect us here in Orlando, what category it will be by the time it is in the area, and to stay or not to stay. Many locals are staying and “bunkering” down as they say.

I’ve cried. 😢  I’ve prayed. 🙏🏼  I cried again watching more of the devastating news of the mass destruction that has already happened on the islands in the Atlantic. Irma is said to be the most powerful hurricane in US history. 🌪 ⛈ 🌫  As the Governor put it, “a nuclear hurricane”.

Having moved to Florida just a little under a year ago, the Lord has already grown me in ways I could have never imagined. And now testing our faith a little more.

My heart has been so heavy, especially since Hurricane Harvey that just happened and the aftermath in Houston. I just wanted to go and help those in need. I can’t imagine the recovery process from it all. And now it might be our turn. 😲

A lot goes through one’s mind as you prepare to “save” your family during a horrific storm. What do I pack? 🎒 Gather all important documents. 🗃  Back everything up in the cloud. ☁️ Pack food to eat. 🍎  Water. Trash Bags. Sand Bags. Board the windows. 🛠  Get gas for evacuation. ⛽️  Get cash. 💵  Get batteries. 🔋 Flashlights. 🔦 Candles. 🕯Where is the best place to go? 🛣 How is the baby going to sleep? 👶🏻 How will we get out if it’s flooding? Call family. 📞 Water to drink. 💦 Water to wash. 💦 Water to flush. 💦 💦 💦

I feel like I mentally and physically have to prepare to say good-bye it all: the house 🏡 , the books 📚, the furniture 🛋, the collections, the memories 🖼, etc. We just don’t know until it’s over what will be here and what will not. And then I am reminded of our lives and how they are so fleeting:

“They are like a breath; their days are like a fleeting shadow.” – Psalm 144:4 (NIV)

“Why, you do not even know what will happen tomorrow. What is your life? You are a mist that appears for a little while and then vanishes.” – James 4:14 (NIV)

A friend reminded me of this verse to calm my spirit, mind, and heart during this time:

From Psalm 46:1-7:

God is our refuge and strength,
    a very present help in trouble.
Therefore we will not fear though the earth gives way,
  though the mountains be moved into the heart of the sea,
though its waters roar and foam,
though the mountains tremble at its    swelling. Selah

There is a river whose streams make glad the city of God,
the holy habitation of the Most High.
God is in the midst of her; she shall not be moved;
God will help her when morning dawns.
The nations rage, the kingdoms totter;
he utters his voice, the earth melts.
The Lord of hosts is with us;
the God of Jacob is our fortress. Selah

The lyrics of “In Christ Alone” by Natalie Grant has been playing over and over in my head as I prepare for what is to come 🎶:

“In Christ alone my hope is found
He is my light, my strength, my song
This Cornerstone, this solid ground
Firm through the fiercest drought and storm
What heights of love, what depths of peace
When fears are stilled, when strivings cease
My Comforter, my All in All
Here in the love of Christ I stand” (Verse 1)

I continue to stand firm in my hope in the Lord, my un-fleeting hope in this ever so fleeting world. I don’t know what’s going to happen in the next few days, but what I do know is that He is faithful, He is in control, He has our good planned out for us, He is not fleeting. 🙏🏼📖

The Calm Before the Storm
What a big difference in size, but same category
Continue to pray friends. Continue to pray.
Almost all these areas will be affected.
