Simple and Easy Pan-Fried Fish Taco Recipe
Makes about 5-6 Tacos
Ingredients:
Corn Tortillas (I get the ones from Trader Joe’s)
1/2 lb of fresh Tilapia Filets
3/4 cup flour
tsp of salt (to taste)
tsp of crushed black pepper (to taste)
vegetable oil for frying
1 bag of cole slaw (available near other bagged salads)
2 limes
Mango Salsa:
- 1 Ripe Mango, diced
- 1/4 cup red onion, diced
- 1/4 cup sweet bell peppers, diced
- 1 Tbsp of cilantro
- 1 small jalapeño pepper, thinly sliced (can take out seeds if you don’t want it to be too spicy)
- 1/2 of a lime
- 1/2 of a lemon
Put all ingredients (except lime and lemon) in a bowl and mix with spoon. Squeeze in the juice from the lime and lemon. Mix well one more time and it’s ready as salsa topping.
Spicy Mayo:
- 1/4 cup of sour cream
- 2 Tsp mayo
- 1-2 tsp of Sriracha (depending on how spicy you want it)
Mix the sour cream, mayo and Sriracha together in a bowl till it’s even. We like ours nice and spicy and will add more Sriracha individually. It’s really just your preference.
Instructions:
Start by mixing the flour, salt and pepper together in a bowl. You don’t need a big bowl, just something large enough to coat the fish in. Lightly coat the fish with the flour, salt and pepper mixture. The goal here is to provide a light flavor and some extra crunch to the fish beyond just the oil. This isn’t a beer batter in case you were wondering. (Beer batter is quite easy though) Once you’ve coated your fish in the mixture.
Coat your frying pan with a generous amount of vegetable oil. Once it reaches a medium to hot temperature, go ahead and drop in your fish and fry each side for about 2-3 minutes or until golden. Set these aside on a paper towel to reduce the oil.
Now you’re ready to get the tacos built!
- Take a corn tortilla, heat it up on a pan.
- Add in the fish as your base.
- Coat one side of your tortilla with the spicy mayo sauce
- Now add in a generous amount of Cole Slaw
- Lastly add some mango salsa
- Seal the deal with some fresh lime!
- ENJOY and be HAPPY! =D
Take a bite!! Enjoy it! Making these fish tacos is just as fun as eating them! They’re great for a light summer dinner party!
